Kainos - New Zealand is a gift to the Two Trees retreat center by the artist.
When Fujimura visited the land before the stunning building was built, he felt the vista of the surrounding land and the local waters speaking to him of God's healing Presence. Using the precious minerals and gofun (white pigments from oyster shell), the painting is created to provide respite for the viewers and the vision of New Creation (see Fujimura's book, Art+Faith: A Theology of Making, 2021 Yale University Press) that all of us can journey into through the painting.
